Health Services

LTUSD School Nurses are licensed California Registered Nurses (RNs) and hold a California School Nurse Services Credential. They are part of a multidisciplinary team committed to supporting the health, safety, and academic success of all LTUSD students.

School Nurses provide a wide range of health services, including health assessments, prevention and management of communicable diseases, and state-mandated screenings such as vision and scoliosis. They also support students through first aid and emergency care, disaster preparedness, immunization compliance and follow-up, child abuse reporting, suicide risk assessment, and referrals to approved community resources. In addition, School Nurses provide health education for both students and staff.

School Nurses train, assign, and supervise unlicensed school personnel who assist with Specialized Physical Health Care Services. By promoting student wellness and addressing health needs during the school day, School Nurses help improve attendance and support student learning and achievement.
