Wellness Centers & Services

LTUSD Wellness Centers, located at Bijou Community School, South Tahoe Middle School, and South Tahoe High School, serve as welcoming access points to a wide range of mental health and wellness supports designed to meet students’ individual needs. Students can connect to health education workshops, peer mentor programs, student empowerment groups, social-emotional learning, school-based therapists, mental health screenings, and referrals to essential community resources. Wellness Centers are available during break periods or with teacher permission as safe, calm spaces for emotional support, with trained specialists who can connect students to school counselors, licensed mental health professionals, and ongoing care when needed.

Through LTUSD’s Behavioral Health, Wellness, Social Emotional Learning (SEL), Foster Youth, and Homeless Youth Services Department, the district is committed to supporting the mental health, wellbeing, and educational success of all students, families, and staff in the South Lake Tahoe region. Using a data-informed, multi-tiered, and culturally responsive approach, the department coordinates inclusive, school-based services that strengthen protective factors and prioritize support for students and communities furthest from opportunity.
