2026 Hall of Distinction Inductees
Kathi Jensen
Kathi Jensen is recognized for a lifetime of service to education, primarily in South Lake Tahoe. Ms. Jensen began as a special education teacher with LTUSD and went on to serve as principal at Meyers Elementary and in leadership roles at STMS.
A longtime advocate for youth, she has supported the Boys and Girls Club for over 25 years and currently serves as its President. Ms. Jensen also serves on the County Board of Education and remains active as a mentor, substitute administrator, and community volunteer
Manny Alvarez
A proud South Tahoe High School (STHS) graduate, Mr. Alvarez is recognized for a distinguished career in public service. After earning a degree in accounting from the University of Nevada, Reno, he joined the FBI in 1990 and served in leadership roles in white-collar crime, cybercrime, and national security across the U.S. and abroad, including assignments in Silicon Valley, Madrid, and Sacramento.
Following his retirement, Mr. Alvarez was appointed Executive Director of California Peace Officer Standards and Training, where he continues to guide statewide law enforcement standards during a critical period of reform.
Brooke Laine
A 1982 STHS graduate, Supervisor Laine is honored for her lifelong commitment to leadership and community service. A standout student athlete, she went on to earn a degree in economics from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and built a successful career in business and banking. Supervisor Laine served ten years on the South Lake Tahoe City Council, including two terms as mayor, and currently represents District 5 as an El Dorado County Supervisor. Her dedication and community pride continue to make a lasting impact on the South Shore.
Ivone Larson
Ivone Larson is recognized for her exceptional career as an educator and leader within LTUSD. Ms. Larson began as a bilingual classroom teacher, advanced to STHS Principal, and later Assistant Superintendent. She played a key role in launching the district’s nationally recognized AVID program and led major efforts to modernize STHS facilities and expand academic and career programs. Her leadership has had a lasting impact on students, staff, and the broader community.
Bob Grant
Bob Grant is honored for his many years of dedicated service to STHS and LTUSD. A passionate advocate for education and the arts, he led a thriving theater program that enriched both the school and the community. Through his creativity, mentorship, and commitment, Mr. Grant inspired generations of students and colleagues, leaving a lasting legacy in the district.
