Teachers attended a workshop training for AP Spanish where they learned about reviewing materials, course outlines, content-related handouts, student samples, and scoring guidelines that focus on specific pedagogical techniques and content-specific strategies that they can use in the classroom.

This El Dorado County of Education conference was attended by a few of our health teachers, to learn about updates to the health curriculum, implementing California's academic standards.

A seminar titled Changing the ADHD Brain: Moving Beyond Medication, was attended by one of our counselors where they navigated the vast research on exercise, movement, diet, sleep, disruptive technologies, supplements and the impact of the environment on ADHD. Learning the tools and knowledge to develop a holistic approach to ADHD.

Meeting with the SSC and the Math Department, STHS decided to move to Integrated Math 1, 2 and 3, replacing the traditional math sequence.

One of our Social Studies teacher attended a conference held by Teachers for Social Justice. T4SJ is united in the belief that children are the foundation of our future and that teachers, parents, and communities are crucial to a child’s growth and development. Teachers 4 Social Justice believes in evolving a society based on equity and love, where each person has access to resources regardless of race, gender, ability, age, socio-economic status, sexual orientation, or faith, for intellectual, spiritual, artistic, and emotional growth.

Our amazing library is there for our students, helping to learn through books, media and technology. Our librarians extended their knowledge attending a conference held by The California School Library Association, learning of the best resources for our library and school and tools to teach the Common Core State Standards, Model California School Library Standards, Digital Literacy, Internet Safety, Cyber Safety for students, Copyright, and more.

Our foreign language teachers attended the TPRS workshop and the National TPRS workshop. Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling or TPRS) is a method of teaching foreign languages. TPRS lessons use a mixture of reading and storytelling to help students learn a foreign language in a classroom setting.

Some of our teachers attended this AVID "Tutorology Training" designed for experienced AVID Elective teachers, AVID coordinators, and designated site team members. They learned to train, monitor, and coach tutors and students in implementing rigorous tutorials that can increase student achievement.

After attending the Mindset Revolution conference, our math teachers explored how math needs to change in the classroom to support the latest brain science, and some of the amazing ways that students change when taught through creative and mindset mathematics.
