STANDARDS FOR TECHNOLOGY
Fourth Grade
Students demonstrate K-3 outcomes in addition to the following:

GENERAL AWARENESS |
Students:
- can create and delete folders.
- can copy a file to a disk and to the class file on the school server.
- understand and respect electronic copyright laws.
- can set up a computer.

KEYBOARDING |
Students:
- continue formal keyboarding (20 wpm).
- can use shift, caps lock, and arrow keys.
- can use keyboard shortcuts where appropriate.

WORD PROCESSING |
Students:
- can format a document.
- can switch between two or more open documents.
- can use writing tools (e.g., spell-check, thesaurus, etc.).
- can move and copy text and graphics between two or more open documents.
- can use shortcuts and rulers.

BASIC GRAPHICS, PAINT, DRAW, AND MULTIMEDIA PROGRAMS |
Students:
- can access and capture an image, video, and sound from peripherals and integrate into a multimedia project.
- can use tool kits in the creation of documents.

NETWORKING |
Students:
- can explain what a network is and how it operates.
- can access and start programs from a network.
- can share files across a network.
- can select information fro the Internet to copy and/or print.
- can read Internet addresses.

USING PERIPHERALS |
Students:
- can use a CD ROM or VCR in multimedia projects.
- can capture an image from a scanner, CD, or other device and insert into a word processing document.
