South Tahoe Middle School has many opportunities for student athletes. Some of the athletic teams require try-outs and are open only to 7th and 8th grade students, while others are open to all students and any student willing to commit to the sport makes the team.

Because of our belief that academics come first, all athletes must maintain at least a 2.0 grade average, receive no F grades, and receive no Unsatisfactory citizenship. In addition, at any time, an athlete can be suspended from the team for poor behavior at school. We expect that our athletes are positive role models for other students and we hold them to that requirement.

In order to participate on a team, the athlete must get a sports physical exam. These can be done by your family physician or through the emergency clinic. In addition, athletes must have proof of insurance and have their parents sign a trip permission slip. All this paperwork must be completed withing a week of making or participating on a team.
