"In the absence of fact,
all you have is opinion"
This quote speaks to the heart of assessment
and accountability at STMS. We track a variety of data about academic
and social development. We then set our goals based on this data.
We have recently finished developing post tests in the core academic
areas of science, math, and History/Social Studies. Either at the
end of each trimester or at the end of the year, students are given
a common assessment that was developed and agreed upon by the teachers
of that area and the curriculum supervisor. Time is budgeted near
the beginning of the year four the teachers to review this data
together and recommend changes to our curriculum, instruction, the
test, or all three! Through this reiterative cycle we constantly
try to improve our students' academic experience.
